Timely Long Short
Activision Blizzard, Inc. is one of the largest interactive gaming and entertainment companies in the world. Its portfolio includes some of the strongest franchises in all of entertainment. Its entertainment network has more than 500 million monthly active users in 196 countries, and it has broadened the audience reach through new contents development. In 2016, the launch of new Call of Duty, Overwatch, the Warcraft movie and the expected new expansion of World of Warcraft Legion Returns could be key growth driver. Additionally, the revenue stream from e-sports is underestimated by the market.
Zynga (ZNGA)’s earlier success with in-app Facebook games has continued to haunt this company as it struggles to adopt to mobile gaming. Its strategy to reduce dependence on Facebook has not been successful. The lack of blockbuster game launches, and consequently, lack of R&D and efforts on retaining talents have resulted in a vicious cycle for the business. Rising advertising cost serves another blow to the company.
